Abergavenny - Place at the mouth of the river "Gafenni" (The blacksmith's river)

Originating in the 11th century, the only remaining places from that time being the ruins of a castle, which was the scene of a massacre in 1175ad when William De Braose reaped revenge on the Welsh people who had murdered his uncle. He invited them all to a Christmas feast and had them all slaughtered. the castle demolished by order of Charles 1st to stop the forces of Oliver Cromwell using it.
