of the Acorns. Old English name for acorn = Aecern
Originally famous in Victorian times
for the manufacture of the famous smooth red bricks used in public
buildings across Britain. It is also well known for It's cotton
and wool industries. Visit the Haworth Art Gallery, a Tudor-style
Edwardian house which was built for the children of Thomas Haworth
who was the town's most prominent cotton manufacturer.The museum
now boasts the largest public collection of Tiffany glass in the
world, as well as a fine collection of watercolours. It has beautiful
stained glass windows and decorative elements.
